Lyle Dean Countryman of Humble, TX went home to the Lord on May 20, 2023 at the age of seventy-five. He was born December 20, 1947 in Santa Paula, California to Jack Doil and Doris Roper Countryman.

Lyle attended the Naval Academy, where he sang in the choir, and Southern California College. He began his career as a professional singer, performing throughout the U.S. and the world in off-Broadway productions, touring with Pat Boone, and singing in several Christian vocal groups. The majority of his professional career, however, has been spent in ministry, the last 28 years of which has been as the Senior Associate Pastor at Lindale Church.

Another of Lyle’s cherished gigs was in bringing joy to children and adults alike as Santa Claus. And while Santa may be preoccupied with “keeping a list,” Lyle was known to be a man who loved unconditionally. He walked with his family, his friends, his church family, and his Houston Astros through all of their ups and downs. His love kept no score.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Kirk Countryman. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Lovelace Countryman; his sister, Vicki Countryman Martin (husband Mark); his children, Dana Roberts Richardson (husband Jayson), Amy Countryman Brubaker, Michael Countryman (wife Tonya), Amber Countryman Szymczyk (husband Jordan), and Stefanie Wingate-Countryman Jones (husband Chris); his grandchildren Corwin Richardson, Tyler Brubaker, Brennan Brubaker (wife Courtney), Emily Brubaker, Paul Countryman, Macie Countryman, Wyatt Countryman, Elijah Jones, Judah Jones, and Ezra Jones; and 3 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Lindale Church in Houston, TX, with visitation at 10:00 AM and funeral service at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lindale Church to assist the family (instructions at

Lyle will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched.
