John Daniel Rogers Obituary

Commander John Daniel Rogers, a distinguished United States Navy officer, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024, at the age of 75. Born on October 11, 1948, in Boise, Idaho, Commander Rogers dedicated his life to serving his country.

A graduate of the United States Naval Academy class of 1970, Commander Rogers served for over twenty years in the United States Navy. His notable accomplishments included serving as a Radar Intelligence Officer of F-14 fighter jets aboard the USS Independence aircraft carrier.

A lifelong adventurer, Commander Rogers' travels took him around the world, from his military service to his retirement aboard luxurious Crystal Cruises. He is survived by his loving family, including his son, Jeff; daughter, Stephanie; and brothers, Jim, Rick, and Tom.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 1 PM CST at Beck Funeral Home - 15709 Ranch Rd 620 N, Austin, TX 78717. Commander Rogers will be laid to rest alongside his beloved wife, Joan Margaret at Cloverdale Cemetery in Boise, Idaho.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Naval Academy Alumni Association and Foundation and the Williamson County Animal Shelter to honor Commander Rogers lifelong support of the Naval Academy AAF, and his love of animals, especially dogs.
